Born in Lyon in 1987, Mathilde Polidori is a French artist and muralist based in Paris.
Through her oils on canvas and her monumental murals, she explores the emotional and sensual nuances of the faces that surround her. Her work is based on exploratory series around femininity, masculinity, looks and otherness.
The faces border on abstraction in a close treatment that is reminiscent of the proximity sought by Georgia O’keeffe in her sumptuous and striking floral paintings – a source of inspiration often cited by the artist. Mathilde Polidori’s gaze subjects the faces around her to close vision: this treatment of the close-up takes place under the effect of the constant observation and taking of photos of the people around her and comes to life in intensification through the use of dazzling colors and a treatment of shadows and lights close to abstraction.
In 2020 the “M le Monde” Jury awarded her the 1st prize for the cover of No. 500. In 2022 she exhibited in New York during the AAF and collaborated in particular with the urban furniture brand Tip Toe. In 2023, after being curated by Inez and Vinoodh for “The Kiss collection” pn their Double Dutch platform, she was spotted by Puma and Rob Cristofaro for the Paris edition of their artistic guide Who’s is who. In August 2023, she released a collaboration with Fred & Farid for the Perrier mineral water. In November 2023, she hosted her first solo exhibition in Paris, called “Les Âmes bleues” (Blue Souls) at Galerie Petit Prieuré.
During summer 2024, the french Museum Edgar Melik (Cabriès, South of France) will host her next solo show.
